01

The nature of the method

What GEN is, what it is not, and the frame within which we operate.

Is it medical?+

No. GEN offers non-medical neurofunctional regulation support. We do not make diagnoses and we do not deliver treatments. Our work sits upstream: sustaining the regulation function of the nervous system so that rest, sleep, focus and recovery become effective again. It never replaces medical or psychological care — it can, however, complement it, in full transparency with your health professionals.

Is it a treatment?+

No. It is training, closer to structured physical preparation — but applied to the nervous system. No substance, no manipulation, no prescription. The exercises are short, progressive and target precise neuro-visual mechanisms so the system regulates more accurately. You remain fully in charge of your pace throughout.

Is it coaching?+

No. We do not set professional goals, do not build verbal action plans and do not intervene in your decisions or leadership posture. GEN works upstream, on the function that conditions your mental availability, emotional stability and recovery capacity. Many clients find that their coaching, preparation or management naturally becomes more effective afterwards.

Is it psychotherapy?+

No. There is no exploration of the past, no psychological analysis, no interpretation. The approach is strictly non-verbal and functional: we observe and train how your nervous system regulates vigilance, tension and recovery. If psychological support is ongoing or desired, GEN can sit alongside it as complementary work on the function — never as a substitute.

02

The Quertant method

Origins, neuro-visual mechanisms and the principles of Psycho-Sensory Culture.

Where does the Quertant method come from?+

It was formalised in the first half of the 20th century by Georges Quertant, out of clinical observation of the link between neuro-visual coordination and regulation of the central nervous system. Psycho-Sensory Culture (CPS) has since been refined, structured and transmitted by specifically trained practitioners. GEN sits within that lineage and connects it to the contemporary demands of high-pressure performance and to current insights from functional neuroscience.

Why go through the visual pathway to reach the nervous system?+

Because the visual system isn't just a perceptual organ — it's a direct extension of the central nervous system. A major share of brain activity is devoted to visual processing and to oculomotor coordination. Training that coordination with precision reaches circuits deeply involved in vigilance, attention, posture and autonomic regulation — without needing language or narrative.

What does an exercise actually look like?+

Each exercise uses specific devices to engage targeted neuro-visual mechanisms: fixation, convergence, binocular coordination, light adaptation, precision of gaze. Tasks are short, calibrated, progressive and always adjusted to your level on the day. You don't have anything to tell or analyse: it is a functional, non-verbal work that lets the nervous system reorganise through repeated practice.

What scientific ground does the approach rest on?+

The approach draws on established knowledge in neurophysiology: the central role of the visual system in motor and attentional control, the functional plasticity of the nervous system, and the mechanisms of autonomic regulation. It is a structured, measurable field practice rather than a medical device. The indicators tracked at each milestone objectify progress without any therapeutic claim.

How is it different from neurofeedback or a brain-training app?+

Neurofeedback works on electrical brain signals; brain-training apps drill cognitive tasks on a screen. The Quertant method engages the nervous system through its neuro-visual and postural circuits, in a human, individualised, physical setting. Progress isn't a game score: it is a functional regulation that settles in and transfers naturally into daily life.

Can the method be combined with meditation, therapy or athletic preparation?+

Yes, and it often is. GEN acts on the regulation function; meditation, therapy, coaching, physical or mental preparation act on other registers. The approaches reinforce each other: better regulation typically makes psychological work smoother, athletic preparation more effective and meditative practice more stable. There is no incompatibility, provided your overall support stays coherent.

Do the effects last?+

Yes, once regulation has been sufficiently consolidated. Unlike a fleeting relief, neurofunctional training aims at a stable reorganisation of how the system works — once installed, it persists. Some highly exposed profiles then choose a spaced maintenance rhythm — a handful of sessions per year — to preserve the benefit over time, just as one maintains physical conditioning.

What is the practitioner's role during a session?+

The practitioner runs each session with precision: choice of exercises, calibration of difficulty, close observation of reactions, real-time adjustment. Their role is not to interpret what you experience but to ensure the system is engaged exactly where and how it should be. This quiet, rigorous, measured methodology is what defines the quality of the work.

03

Audiences & profiles

Who GEN is designed for, in personal and institutional contexts.

Can I come as an individual, or is this only for companies and institutions?+

Both are welcome. Individual support is for executives, athletes, students, caregivers and anyone facing high nervous-system load. Collective formats serve leadership teams, departments, clubs, federations, schools and healthcare institutions. The shape adapts to the structure: group assessments, prevention workshops, training protocols and tracked outcomes.

Which athletic profiles benefit most?+

Any sport where vigilance, visual precision, reaction time or stress management matters: precision disciplines, combat sports, endurance, elite team sports. The work targets the nervous foundation — reaction, recovery, emotional stability — and also supports technical and medical staff who want to optimise preparation and load management.

How does it fit into an organisation that already uses coaching or workplace wellness?+

GEN does not replace coaching, training or occupational health; it works upstream on nervous-system regulation. Better regulation makes coaching more productive, training more absorbable and wellness programmes more effective. We can align with your internal partners, transparently and using measurable indicators.

Can students and healthcare workers really benefit?+

Yes. Their cognitive load is often structural: sustained attention, irregular hours, emotional responsibility, persistent fatigue. A better-regulated nervous system improves attention quality, resilience and recovery. We offer individual pathways and prevention programmes for institutions.

What is the difference between individual support and a collective intervention?+

Individual support is built on a personalised assessment and training sessions tailored to your level and load. A collective intervention focuses on prevention, organisational health and supporting a team or structure: it may include individual assessments, shared protocols, group debriefs and indicator tracking.

Is there a format for small teams or executive committees?+

Yes. Corporate and team programmes are calibrated to size, preferred frequency and goals. They can run on-site, at our location or in a blended format, with short sessions that fit demanding calendars. Each programme is scoped in advance and followed by measurable feedback.

How do you assess whether the method fits my profile?+

The initial assessment objectively measures your neurofunctional regulation and we discuss your load, goals and context. If the approach is not indicated or medical follow-up is needed, we refer you to the right professional. Fit is always decided from data, not promises.

04

How it works in practice

The assessment, session frequency, and what gets measured.

What exactly happens during the first assessment?+

The assessment lasts about 1 hour 15 minutes. It begins with a focused interview about your load, sleep, recovery and goals. We then carry out simple, non-invasive neuro-visual and postural measurements that give an objective reading of your regulation level. You leave with a clear debrief and a personalised plan.

How should I prepare for a session?+

No special preparation is needed. Come as you are, in comfortable clothes. Just avoid arriving after a lot of caffeine or a very short night, as these can temporarily affect the indicators. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring them: much of the work involves visual function.

How often do sessions take place?+

The most common rhythm is weekly, because it allows progress while giving the nervous system time to integrate. Depending on your load and goals, we can adjust: an intensive short-term rhythm, or a gradually spaced rhythm once regulation is consolidated.

Can I continue my normal activity during the programme?+

Yes, and it is even encouraged. GEN work is designed to improve regulation in real life — work, sport, study. We adjust exercise intensity according to your current load so that training supports performance without overloading it.

What does 'objective measurement' mean?+

It means we rely on observable, repeatable indicators — visual coordination, postural stability, capacity to regulate under load — rather than impressions or questionnaires alone. These markers show precisely where you are and let us adjust the programme accordingly.

Will I feel results from the first sessions?+

Many people notice early changes: slightly more restorative sleep, easier calm, less mental scatter. The first measurable threshold usually appears after a few regular sessions. Lasting consolidation takes several weeks, depending on the starting point.

Are there exercises to do between sessions?+

The core work happens in session, because it relies on specific equipment and real-time adjustment. Between sessions, we may suggest small, simple practices — gaze, breathing, posture — to support integration, but never a heavy extra load.

Can sessions be held remotely?+

The work requires a physical presence, precise equipment and direct observation of the nervous system's response. That is why sessions take place in person at the Institut Médico-Chirurgical de Champel in Geneva. Some framing or follow-up conversations, however, can be held by video call.

05

Results & follow-up

What changes tangibly, how it is measured, and over what timeframe.

Are there any contraindications?+

Some active eye conditions (for instance a progressive retinal disorder) or neurological conditions (unstabilized epilepsy, recent head-injury after-effects) may require prior medical advice or an adapted protocol. We systematically assess these elements during the initial assessment and can, if needed, liaise with your physician.

How do you measure progress?+

Through objectified indicators reviewed at regular intervals: neuro-visual regulation measurements, sleep quality and continuity, recovery speed, sustained-attention capacity, emotional stability in real situations. These milestones make progress visible and let us adjust the plan — the work is driven by data, not impressions.

How long do the results last after the programme ends?+

Changes obtained at the level of neurofunctional regulation are, by nature, durable — because they settle in the function itself, not in a compensation strategy. Once the threshold is reached, most people maintain it without upkeep. Occasional consolidation sessions can be offered around peaks of load (competition, strategic deadline, exam period) to keep regulation precise.

Are follow-up sessions offered?+

Yes. After the active phase, we offer yearly or half-yearly check-ins, depending on your needs. These short sessions objectively confirm that regulation is holding and, if needed, allow us to fine-tune in the face of a new load context.

What if progress seems to stall?+

Neurofunctional progression is not linear: it advances in stages, sometimes through quieter periods of integration. We revisit the measured indicators together and adjust intensity, frequency or the type of exercises. An apparent plateau is almost always followed by a new threshold, provided the physiology of the system is respected.

06

Confidentiality & partnerships

Privacy, coordination with medical professionals, and collaborations.

Why have you devoted so many years to this approach?+

Because, in our experience, changes obtained at the level of nervous-system regulation are among the most durable. When the function stabilizes, everything that depends on it — decisions, recovery, focus, stress management, sleep — becomes more reliable. Investing in this function is investing in long-term performance rather than in surface-level adjustments.

Why did you create Neuro Performance Dynamics?+

To give Geneva and French-speaking Switzerland a dedicated space for people under pressure: structured, measurable, non-medical, and aligned with the real stakes of sustainable performance. The goal is to make an approach that bridges applied neuroscience, methodological rigor and discretion genuinely accessible to executives, athletes and institutions.

Why are you convinced the nervous system deserves to be better understood?+

Because we readily train skills, muscles or mindset — and neglect the system that coordinates all of it. Yet it is this system that ultimately decides your ability to recover, to stay focused and to keep going over time. Understanding it better opens the door to real prevention and to performance that is not paid for at the expense of health.

How is confidentiality guaranteed?+

All exchanges, measurements and personal data are covered by strict professional confidentiality. No information is shared with an employer, federation or third party without your explicit written consent. Data are stored securely, in compliance with GDPR and the Swiss FADP.

Do you work with physicians, coaches or mental performance specialists?+

Yes, gladly and always transparently. GEN sits upstream of their work — on the regulation function — and can liaise with your practitioners at your request. This coordination is particularly valuable when several forms of support run in parallel (physician, psychologist, physical trainer, coach).

Do you offer support for institutions, teams or federations?+

Yes. We design bespoke programmes for executive teams, elite athletes and their staff, law enforcement, faculty, healthcare professionals and academic institutions. Each programme is co-designed with the sponsor to respect the culture, operational constraints and measurable objectives of the organisation.

Do you have partnerships with universities or biotech / medical hubs?+

Yes — and we actively encourage them. GEN welcomes collaborations with universities, research centres, biotech clusters, clinics and medical institutions around nervous-system regulation and sustainable performance. These partnerships can take the form of joint research, patronage, pilot programmes or institutional agreements.
